CL2S label

Hello,

I just wanted to post some information on my mother's guitar with this same exact label as pictured.

My mother gave my 20 year old daughter this same labeled guitar. My parents could not remember the exact year, but estimated it was between 1969-1973, but that is a guess. However, I do remember when I was a little girl in the early 70's and my mom would sing and play on this guitar. She was given the guitar brand new, purchased in New Jersey, from my dad for her birthday. My uncle whom is a wonderful singer and guitar player (and my mother's brother), went with my father to help him pick out this guitar for her. My mom mentioned that it was a beginner guitar. The label also reads that it is a Suzuki Guitar Estrada, Made exclusively for MICA by SUZUKI, Nagano Japan. Model No. CL-2S. It has a beautiful sound and my daughter loves playing on it.

Ironically, my younger daughter was given my husband's mothers guitar (bought for her brand new, purchased in MD, from my father-in-law back in the day when she wanted to learn how to play a guitar). Also a SUZUKI Guitar made in Japan and very similar in style. It is a different label but also from the 70's (she could not remember the exact year, but estimated it around 1973-1975, again just a guess). That style label is also pictured on this forum (black and white rectangular label). It reads: Model No. 60, Suzuki Guitar Kiso Suzuki Violin Co., LTD. Japan.

We have received compliments on the sound of these guitars from other more experienced guitar players. It is a nice feeling that we have both grandmother's guitars and our girls will always cherish them. Their grandmother's are excited that they are playing them too.

I recently purchased another 1970's Estrada guitar. This one is a round label that reads: A PRODUCT OF MICA • QUALITY GUARANTEED Estrada No. CL-1 MADE IN JAPAN. Also very similar, but does not seem as nice (sound nor look) as compared to the other two that we have.

I would love to learn more about these three guitars and find out the exact year of each. If anyone can shed more light on these guitars, that would be exciting. There seems to be a following.
